NSW police appeal over assault near Albury

Police are appealing for public assistance following an assault in the state's south this morning.

Between the hours of 2am and 3am today (Saturday 19 January 2019), a 40-year-old man attended a home on Boomerang Drive, Lavington, and spoke with two male occupants.

Police have been told, as the 40-year-old man was leaving the residence, he was assaulted in the street by one of the occupants, a 39-year-old man.

He was struck several times with a golf club, causing him to sustain injuries to his ribs and head.

He was taken to Albury Base Hospital in a stable condition where he will undergo surgery to his head.

Officers from Murray River Police District attended and established a crime scene.

While inquiries continue, police attached to Albury Criminal Investigation are appealing for anyone who may have information, or may have been in the vicinity of Boomerang Drive at the time of the incident to come forward.
