NSW police arrest escapee - State's Mid North Coast

A man who escaped a correctional centre near West Kempsey this morning has been arrested by police.

The 31-year-old man escaped the correctional centre at Aldavilla shortly after 8am today, NSW Police say.

About 3.40pm, police attended a rural property on the Oxley Highway west of Wauchope where it is alleged a stolen Subaru Forrester hit two police cars before the driver was arrested.

He was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where he was charged with escape lawful custody, steal motor vehicle, drive whilst disqualified, larceny, and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court tomorrow.
