NSW police charge teen with assault

Police have charged a teenager after he allegedly assaulted a man at a railway station on the state’s Central Coast, NSW Police say.

Officers have been told about 10pm yesterday (Wednesday 8 November 2017), a 31-year-old man was at Narara Railway Station when a 16-year-old boy punched him. He then demanded the man’s mobile phone which he allegedly smashed on the ground before continuing to assault him.

The man suffered severe head injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken to Gosford Hospital for further treatment.

Police arrived a short time later and located the teenager nearby.

He was arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station, where it is alleged he threatened a police officer and punched another in the face.

He was charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, intimidation, assault police and malicious damage.

He was refused bail to appear at a Children's Court today Thursday 9 November 2017.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
