NSW police charge three after investigation into alleged 2018 armed robberies and assaults in Sydney CBD

Three men have been charged following ongoing investigations into alleged armed robberies and assaults, which occurred in late 2018 in the Sydney metropolitan area.

Strike Force Bendred was established in December of 2018 to investigate two alleged armed robberies on the morning of Thursday 29 November 2018.

Police will allege about 3.10am, a 25-year-old man was robbed at knifepoint by three men while walking home on Cleveland Street, Surry Hills.

A short time later, about 4.10am, a 31-year-old man was knocked unconscious and received facial fractures, after three men pulled him out of his stationary vehicle and robbed him, on Baptist Street, Redfern.

Following inquiries, about 1.45pm on Friday 21 December 2018, officers from Surry Hills and Redfern Police Area Commands executed a search warrant at a home on Morehead Street, Redfern.

During the search, police seized a number of items of interest, and arrested two men, aged 20 and 22, who were taken to Surry Hills Police Station.

Both were charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon, and robbery in company cause wounding/grievous bodily harm, and refused bail.

The 20-year-old man was refused bail and faced Surry Hills Local Court, where he was again refused bail to reappear on Thursday 7 March 2019.

The 22-year-old man also faced court, where he was again refused bail to reappear on Thursday 4 April 2019.

Following further inquiries, about 8.30am today (Friday 22 February 2019), police executed a search warrant at a home on Talfourd Street, Glebe.

Items of interest were seized, and a 20-year-old man was arrested before being taken to Surry Hills Police Station.

The man was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon, and robbery in company cause wounding/grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Saturday 23 February 2019).
