NSW police charge two over Lurnea car crash

Two people have been charged after a stolen car crashed in Sydney's south-west yesterday.

About 3:50pm Sunday (17 February 2019), officers tried to stop a stolen car being driven along Hoxton Park Road in Liverpool.

Officers allege the driver ignored police directions and a pursuit was initiated, which was soon terminated due to safety concerns.

A short time later, the car crashed into a truck parked on Weir Crescent, Lurnea.

The 17-year-old driver was taken to Liverpool Hospital suffering a knee injury, while her 20-year-old passenger escaped with minor lacerations.

The driver has now been issued a Future Court Attention Notice (FCAN) for the offences of police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, take and drive conveyance without consent, and never-licensed person drive on road.

The passenger has been issued a Future Court Attention Notice (FCAN) for the offences of being carried in conveyance taken without consent.

Both are due to appear in Liverpool court on Wednesday 20 March 2019.
