NSW police charge woman over $2.4m cruise company fraud

A woman has been charged with multiple fraud offences of more than $2.4m allegedly committed against a cruise company.

Strike Force Hopkirk was established by officers from Sydney City Police Area Command to investigate an alleged fraud committed against a cruise ship company.

Police will allege, a female employee made numerous unauthorised electronic transfers of money from the company account, between January 2014 and September of 2017, which totalled more than $2.4 million.

Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 62-year-old woman at Day Street Police Station yesterday (Wednesday 13 February 2019).

She was charged with eight counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception, and four counts of knowingly deal with proceeds of crime intention to conceal.

The woman was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 27 February 2019.
