NSW police lay 87 additional charges over Kogarah incident

A man who remains before the courts in relation to several alleged offences at Kogarah last year will face an additional 87 charges in court tomorrow.

About 7.55pm on Thursday 15 November 2018, emergency services were called to a commercial premises on Railway Parade, Kogarah, after reports of a concern for welfare and a stabbing.

It is alleged a seven-year-old girl had been physically and sexually assaulted by a then 54-year-old man at the location.

Two other men confronted and detained the alleged offender, one of them was stabbed several times during the struggle.

Investigations into the events leading up to incident have been conducted by Strike Force Olsson which is comprised of officers from St George Police Area Command, and additional investigators from across the Central Metropolitan Region.

Following the man's detention Strike Force Olssen investigators identified and interviewed potential victims who reported they had also received offensive and obscene phone calls.

About 9.45am (Monday 14 January 2019) Strike Force Olsson investigators attended Silverwater, where a now 55-year-old man was spoken to.

He was later charged with use carriage service to menace/harass/offend (x 87).

The man remains in custody and will reappear at Sutherland Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 15 January 2019).

Strike Force Olsson continue with their inquiries into the incidents.
