NSW police lay further charges following public order incident

Police have laid further charges in connection with an alleged public order incident in Sydney’s west earlier this month, NSW Police say.

About 7.20pm on Thursday 7 April 2016, police were called to Mount Druitt Railway Station, following reports a large group of people were fighting at the location.

Officers from Mount Druitt Local Area Command attended and located two groups of people at the station, and on North Parade.

Police dispersed the crowd of about 100 people and – following a canvass of the surrounding area – located and seized several items including a Molotov cocktail, knife and golf club.

During the incident, a 54-year-old woman was injured. She was taken to Mt Druitt Hospital for minor head and neck injuries.

To date, seven people have been charged in relation to the alleged incident.

Following further inquiries an eight person, a 17-year-old male, was arrested on Monday (25 April 2016) and taken to Mount Druitt Police Station.

He was later charged with riot, larceny, malicious damage and possession of an offensive implement.

The teen was refused bail to face children’s court yesterday, where he was remanded in custody to reappear on Tuesday 7 June 2016.

Investigations into the matter are continuing.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
