Police are investigating two break and enters that left one man injured on the Mid North Coast.

Just before 1am on Monday (5 March 2018), a man returned to a unit on Forest Place, West Kempsey, when he noticed two men inside the premises.

The men approached the 45-year-old man and demanded money before striking him in the head with an iron bar and fleeing the scene; they were last seen running down Kidman Avenue toward North Street.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man for lacerations to his head and arm before he was taken to Kempsey Hospital.

Officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, police are investigating a link to an attempted break and enter at a home on North Street just before midnight on Sunday 4 March 2018, where a resident woke to find two men on the verandah.

Police would like to speak to two men who might be able to assist with inquires. Both men are described to police as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, mid 20s, with thin builds, and were wearing dark hooded jumpers.

Inquires are continuing and police advise residents to check their premises and report anything suspicious, NSW Police say.

Police are urging anyone with information or who may have seen two men around North Street, to call Crime Stoppers.
