NSW police probe child approach

An investigation has commenced following a child approach in New England Police District yesterday, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 10am (Wednesday 5 September 2018), a 14-year-old girl was approached by a man as she walked through Fenton Park on Lambeth Street, Glen Innes.

Police were told the man was making lewd gestures towards the girl as he approached.

The girl felt uncomfortable by his gestures and sought refuge at a local hotel.

Officers have been told the man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, with olive skin and aged in his late 30s. He is about 180cm tall, of a stocky build and with dark hair that is cut longer on the top with shaved back and sides.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark jacket, dark pants and work boots.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is urged to contact police via Crime Stoppers.
