NSW police probe fatal house fire

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following a fatal house fire in St Ives yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 6.45pm today emergency services were called to a home on Blackburn Street following reports of a house fire.

On arrival officers located the home engulfed in smoke and flames.

NSW Fire & Rescue officers extinguished the blaze and conducted a search of the home.

The body of a man, believed to be the 81-year-old occupant, was located inside the premises.

A crime scene has been established at the home while investigators conduct further inquiries into the cause of the fire.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
