NSW police seek info after child approach

Police have appealed to the community for information after a teenager was approached on her way to school in Coffs Harbour today, NSW Police say.

About 8.45am (Tuesday 18 September 2018), police have been told that a man approached a 16-year-old girl at a reserve between MacKays Road and Joyce Street.

The man allegedly grabbed hold of her wrist before she punched him in the face and ran away.

The incident was reported to school staff before officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District were notified.

Investigators would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as being was aged in his 20s, about 170cm-175cm tall, of a slim build, and with brown hair.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark coloured top.

Investigators have urged anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
