NSW police seek info after officer injured near Mudgee

Police are appealing for public assistance after an officer was injured during a traffic incident near Mudgee yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 8.40pm today, police were called to Bylong Valley Way, Ilford, about 3km from the Castlereagh Highway, following reports of a suspicious vehicle.

Police from Mudgee Local Area Command attended and located a green Mitsubishi Magna stopped on the road.

A male Senior Constable approached the car and attempted to take the keys from the male driver.

During the incident, the officer received a laceration to his right hand.

The vehicle drove away, and was last seen travelling south on the Castlereagh Highway.

The injured Senior Constable was taken to Rylstone Hospital by NSW Ambulance Paramedics for treatment.

Police investigating the incident would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged 30-40.

Investigators are also appealing for anyone with information about the vehicle described as a green Mitsubishi Magna with a blue/black coloured boot and no rear registration place, to come forward.
