NSW police seek info following assault at Newcastle

Police are appealing for information following an assault of a man in Newcastle, NSW Police say.

About 7.50pm yesterday, a man was assaulted by two men in a backyard of a home on Angus Avenue, Waratah West.

Police from Newcastle City Local Area Command were called to the location and located the 22-year-old man with minor injuries to his head.

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment of minor wounds.

Investigators are appealing for information in relation to the incident and would like to speak to two men who they believe may be able to assist.

Both men are described as being aged between 30 and 40 years of age.

The first man is described as being a slim build and wearing a high visibility shirt.

The second man is described as being a large build.

Police believe the incident was targeted and will speak further with the victim as investigations continue.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
