Police are appealing for information following a number of armed robberies at service stations in Sydney’s north west this month, NSW Police say.
The latest incident occurred about 9pm yesterday (Monday 8 January 2018), when three men with their faces covered entered a service station on the corner of Coxs and Badajoz roads, North Ryde.
Two of the men were armed – one with a long-bladed weapon and one with a firearm.
Police have been told they threatened the 23-year-old employee, before stealing cash and cigarettes, and leaving on foot on Badajoz Road.
It’s believed the same offenders may also be responsible for armed robberies at service stations at Kings Langley and Toongabbie last week.
About 9.10pm last Tuesday (2 January 2018), a 42-year-old man was working at a service station on Solander Drive, Kings Langley, when three men with their faces covered entered the store.
Two of the men were armed with firearms, and the third was armed with a sword.
They threatened the employee, demanding cash and cigarettes, and while he was complying with their directions, the man with the sword struck him.
He sustained lacerations to his right arm and a partially-severed thumb. He was taken to Westmead Hospital for surgery and has since been released.
About 9.40pm last Wednesday (3 January 2018), three men armed with two firearms and a sword entered a service station on The Crescent, Toongabbie, and threatened the 23-year-old employee.
The armed men stole cash and cigarettes before fleeing.
Detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad are investigating the robberies, which they believe are linked, under Strike Force Marril.
The State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad Commander Detective Acting Superintendant Gary Hutchen, said police are very keen to hear from anyone with information on the robberies.
"In each case the offenders have been armed with firearms and a long-bladed weapon, threatened staff and demanded cash and cigarettes.
"Our detectives are working hard to catch those involved and put them before the court," Det A/Supt Hutchen said.
Police are urging anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Marril investigators to call Crime Stoppers.
