The Ferrython, coordinated by Destination NSW, provided a meaningful opportunity to thank emergency service personnel for their courage, professionalism and ongoing service to the community, offering responders a moment of recognition and reflection.
For many emergency service personnel, it was a rare chance to step away from operational duties and be recognised for the often unseen work they do to keep communities safe.
The Ferrython has long been a highlight of Australia Day on Sydney Harbour, bringing together vessels from across the city in a celebration of maritime culture and community spirit. This year's event carried special significance, with a strong focus on gratitude, resilience and unity in the wake of recent events.
The participation of NSW SES volunteers from NSW SES Waverley Woollahra, City of Sydney, Randwick and Marrickville Units and members from the NSW SES Wellbeing and Chaplaincy teams, served as a fitting tribute on Australia Day.
