The Government is pleased to announce that applications are open for up to 12 new members to join the new NSW Women's Advisory Council (the Council). Each member will play a key role in advancing gender equality by advising the NSW Government on issues affecting women and girls across the state.
The Council aims to represent the diverse voices, experiences, and priorities of women in NSW, and promote equitable policy outcomes across the work of government. The Council replaces the former NSW Council for Women's Economic Opportunity, with an expanded remit to consider the broad spectrum of issues affecting women and girls.
The Council will provide expert advice across the three priority areas identified in the NSW Women's Strategy 2023-2026:
- economic opportunity and advancement
- health and wellbeing
- participation and empowerment.
They will also contribute to the implementation of the Strategy and consult with community organisations.
Council members will meet up to four times a year to discuss issues affecting women and girls and provide advice to the NSW Government.
