The winner's initial reaction was one of joyful disbelief.
“Woo-hoo! Thank you so much!” he exclaimed upon receiving the news from lottery officials.
“It’s funny. I looked at the TattsLotto results on Sunday morning while having a coffee and I saw there were eight winners who took home $600,000 each.
“I thought to myself, ‘Oh, wouldn’t that be nice to win! I’d love to win $600,000!’.
A long-time lottery player, he has been participating since he was 18 years old. The revelation of his win led to a spontaneous celebration with a friend, marked by disbelief and beers, capping off the weekend on a high note.
The Darwin resident plans to use his windfall for practical purposes, focusing on home improvements. He intends to complete work on a new shed he installed and to finish his driveway.
“I always wanted to complete my driveway, so I’ll have to get some bitumen work done. This will help a lot,” he shared.
