NT Police Hunt for Info on Alice Springs Vehicle Theft

Northern Territory Police are calling for information after a vehicle was stolen overnight.

At 9pm, police received a report that a Toyota Kluger had been stolen from a location in Gillen.

Throughout the night, the vehicle was observed multiple times driving around Alice Springs CBD, containing a number of youths.

The youths, on different occasions threw rocks at members of the public and police vehicles, smashing the windscreen of a marked police vehicle.

Shortly after, the stolen vehicle was stationed in front of the Alice Springs Police Station, where the youths threw more rocks at police officers engaging with members of the public.

No injuries were reported.

Just after 6am this morning, the vehicle was recovered abandoned in Gillen.

Detectives from Strike Force Viper are investigating the incident and urging anyone with information to make contact on 131 444.
