Forestry Corporation will be conducting a hazard reduction burn in Nullica State Forest, west of Eden next week.
The Eden protection hazard reduction burn is expected to start on Tuesday 13th May, due to favourable weather conditions.
Eden Fire and Operations Team Leader Glen Gibbons said the burn will reduce fuel loads in the forest and smoke will be highly visible from Eden, Boydtown, Nethercote and Pambula.
Mr Gibbons said firefighters and heavy plant operators from multiple agencies will be on site carefully monitoring the burn.
"Our hazard reduction burns are conducted under suitable weather conditions and endeavour to mitigate the impact of smoke on residents, however this may not be achievable in all cases," Mr Gibbons said.
"It is recommended if you or your family are sensitive to smoke to close windows and doors, particularly at night when the smoke settles in low lying areas.
"Motorists are also advised to slow down and drive to conditions around Eden and especially on Nethercote Road and the Princes Highway," he said.
The public is urged to obey road closed signage and any directions given by forestry staff.
Please only call 000 if you see an unattended fire.
