Over the past six weeks, taking a whole-of-government approach, the Mamdani Administration has urged families in every corner of the city with a child turning three or four this year to apply to free Pre-K and 3-K programs before 11:59 p.m. tonight, Feb. 27.
Families can apply online at myschools.nyc, visit a City Family Welcome Center in person or call 718-935-2009.
Through a robust advertisement campaign on LinkNYC kiosks, NYC Ferries and in taxi cabs in multiple languages; outreach led by faith leaders, elected officials and community-based organizations; direct calls and texts to eligible New Yorkers; and more, the Administration is delivering on its promise to ensure families know about the opportunities available to them.
As a final push this week, Mayor Mamdani and Executive Director of the Mayor's Office of Child Care and Early Childhood Education Emmy Liss reached New Yorkers through morning television and radio appearances, social media and phone calls to families, and in-person outreach in Morningside Heights. There, Mayor Mamdani joined kids in building a snowman while reminding families of the approaching deadline.
The event followed the release of a Spanish-language video featuring Mayor Mamdani and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, underscoring that applications are open to all eligible families, regardless of the language they speak or immigration status.
Liss also appeared on NY1, 1010WINS and WNYC's The Brian Lehrer Show to share application information. Schools Chancellor Kamar Samuels and Deputy Chancellor of the Division of Early Childhood Education Simone Hawkins met families in Lower Manhattan this week to assist with applications.
The administration's outreach builds on the City's bold commitment to deliver universal child care access in partnership with Governor Kathy Hochul.
