NZ police release name over Manukau Custody Unit incident

As stated by Superintendent Jill Rogers, Counties Manukau District Commander:

Police can now release the name of the man who died in Middlemore Hospital following an incident in the Manukau Custody Unit on Monday 30 August.

He was Jaye Taueli, aged 21, from Auckland.

Police continue to ensure there is support available for his family.

A number of investigations into the circumstances surrounding Mr Taueli's death remain ongoing.

Police have also notified the Coroner's office.
