Police can now confirm one person has died following this morning's crash south of Rotorua.
Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle crash on State Highway 38, near the intersection with State Highway 5, around 9:45am.
Others involved in the crash received minor to serious injuries.
The road is about to re-open after being closed for a scene examination.
Enquiries are continuing into the circumstances of the crash.
