Oakleigh drink driver detected

Oakleigh police impounded a car following a crash in Oakleigh last night.

Police responded to numerous Triple Zero (000) calls following reports of an erratic driver travelling west on North Road about 5.25pm.

Officers attended the registered owners address in nearby Oakleigh South where they located a white Honda CRV on the front nature strip.

The vehicle's front passenger tyre had been damaged and the rim was exposed.

It is believed the driver may have hit a curb at the intersection of Huntingdale Road and North Road and continued driving the vehicle until she reached her home address.

The 54-year-old female driver was conveyed to a nearby police station where she returned a positive evidentiary breath test of .180.

Her license was immediately suspended and her vehicle impounded for 30 days at a cost of $878.50.

The woman is expected to be charge on summons with drink driving and other traffic related offences.

Anyone who witnessed the vehicle travelling along North Road between 5.20pm and 5.30pm is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
