Off-Duty Officer Charged in Metro Assault

A police officer has been charged over an alleged assault in Sydney's east yesterday.

About 7pm (Sunday 14 June 2026), officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended a home in Maroubra, after reports of an alleged domestic assault.

On arrival, police were told a 61-year-old man had allegedly assaulted a woman known to him following an argument.

The woman was assessed at the scene; however, did not require medical treatment.

Following inquiries, the 61-year-old senior constable – attached to a Central Metropolitan Region command – was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station where he was charged with common assault (DV).

The 61-year-old was granted conditional bail to appear before Waverley Local Court on Thursday 18 June 2026.

The officer's employment status is under review.
