An off-duty police officer has been charged with mid-range drink driving after undergoing a random breath test in Ryde this morning.
About 7.25am (Saturday 16 August 2025), police were undertaking stationary random roadside breath testing at the intersection of Victoria Road and Belmore Street when they stopped a vehicle and requested the driver undertake a breath analysis.
The 50-year-old male driver – an off-duty sergeant attached to a specialist command – was breath tested and returned a positive result.
He was arrested and taken to Gladesville Police Station where he underwent a secondary breath analysis and returned an alleged reading of 0.093.
The man, who was travelling with a child in the vehicle, was charged with drive with mid-range PCA and his licence was suspended.
He will appear before Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 30 September 2025.
