Off-Duty Officer Fined for Low-Range PCA in Katoomba

An off-duty police officer has been fined after allegedly drink-driving in the Blue Mountains area yesterday.

The 55-year-old man was stopped for random testing on the Great Western Highway, Katoomba, about 9am (Sunday 4 October 2026), when he allegedly returned a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Katoomba Police Station where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.051.

The Inspector – who is attached to the Western Region – was issued a Traffic Infringement Notices for drive with low range PCA and licence expired within last two years, which carry a total $1444 fine.
