Officer bitten during arrest at fast food outlet at Minchinbury

A police officer has been bitten while arresting a man following a disturbance a western Sydney fast food outlet this morning.

About 6am (Monday 8 July 2019), police from Mt Druitt Police Area Command were called to the business on the Great Western Highway at Minchinbury, responding to reports a man was behaving erratically, allegedly drinking hand sanitiser and throwing food.

A struggle ensured when officers tried to arrest the man, with a 22-year-old probationary constable being bitten on his right arm.

The man has now been arrested and is undergoing assessment at hospital.

The bitten officer is also being checked at hospital, while the other officer is being treated for cuts.
