Officer Charged for Accessing Restricted Data

A police officer has been charged after allegedly accessing and sharing restricted data with another man in the state's north.

In January 2025, officers attached to Professional Standards Command established Strike Force Rouvray to investigate reports an officer was illegally accessing and distributing restricted police data.

During the investigation, strike force officers identified the officer had allegedly accessed the data multiple times between 2016 to 2025 and that all the data accessed related to police information about a Nundle man.

Further investigations – including a search warrant at South West Rocks Police Station on Thursday 12 June 2025 – revealed that the officer had allegedly supplied the information to the Nundle man including the use of his Mobipol to access information when visiting the man in Nundle.

Following these investigations, about 7.40pm yesterday (Monday 8 September 2025), strike force investigators arrested a 42-year-old man at a home in Nundle.

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with make collusive agreement with member of NSW Police.

The man was refused bail to appear before Tamworth Local Court today (Tuesday 9 September 2025), where he was granted strict conditional bail to appear before the same court on Monday 15 September 2025.

About 3.30pm today, the officer – a 51-year-old senior constable attached to Northern Region – was charged with access/modify restricted data held in computer (eight counts), and holder of public office misconduct him or herself.

He was issued a court attendance notice to appear before Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 5 November 2025.

The officer is suspended with pay and his employment status is under review.
