A police officer has been charged over the alleged assault of a man.
On Friday 3 September 2021, officers from Lake Illawarra Police District commenced an investigation into the alleged assault of a man by a serving police officer while on duty.
Following inquires, the 44-year-old male senior constable – attached to a command in the Southern Region – was issued a Court Attendance Notice (CAN) for common assault earlier today (Tuesday 28 September 2021).
He is due to appear at Nowra Local Court on Tuesday 9 November 2021.
The officer's duty status is currently under review.
