Officer charged - Southern Region

A serving police officer has been charged in the state's south.

About 2.30am on Sunday 21 July 2019, police were called to a Queanbeyan West home, after reports of a domestic-related incident.

Police attended and arrested a 40-year-old man who was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station.

A 27-year-old woman was located with minor head injuries and did not require hospitalisation.

The Senior Constable attached to Queanbeyan Traffic and Highway Patrol was charged with common assault – DV (x3), and assault occasioning actual bodily harm – DV.

An Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) was granted, and he was granted conditional bail to appear at Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday 29 July 2019.
