Officer charged - Southern Region

A police officer has been charged over an alleged on-duty assault in the state's south.

In January 2019, an investigation commenced after a senior constable allegedly assaulted an 18-year-old man as he was being taken into custody for a number of offences.

Yesterday (Thursday 24 October 2019), a 38-year-old senior constable, attached to the Southern Region, was served a Future Court Attendance Notice for two counts of common assault. He is due to appear at Goulburn Local Court on 11 December 2019.

His employment status is currently under review.
