Officer charged - Western Region 29 July

A serving officer has been charged over alleged misconduct offences.

In 2018, investigators from Western Region and Professional Standards Command commenced a joint investigation into reports of misconduct.

A senior constable attached to Western Region was issued with a court attendance notice yesterday (Tuesday 28 July 2020) for misconduct in public office, attempt to pervert the course of justice, hinder investigation, and neglect of duty.

The officer was granted conditional bail and is due to appear in Parkes Local Court on Monday 3 August 2020.

Following inquiries, a 56-year-old sergeant attached to Western Region, who was charged on Thursday 21 May 2020 with a total of 21 offences, was yesterday (Tuesday 28 July 2020) charged with a further five offences relating to misconduct in a Public Office.

He will also be appearing in Parkes Local Court on Monday 3 August 2020.
