Officer Faces New Charges in South West Metro Region

A former police officer has been charged with further domestic violence offences, after initially being charged with assault last week.

Just after 4am on Wednesday 3 December 2025, police were called to a home in Mortlake following reports of an alleged assault.

Officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command were told a 21-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by a man known to her at another home in Mortlake.

The woman was taken to Concord Hospital for treatment of facial and leg injuries.

About 1pm on Wednesday 3 December 2025 police arrested and charged a 28-year-old man – a probationary constable attached to a Central Metropolitan Region Command.

He was charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (domestic), assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage cause actual bodily harm (DV), break and enter intend to commit serious indictable offence, possess prohibited drug, and possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.

He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Thursday 4 December 2025 where he was formally refused bail.

On Saturday 6 December 2025, investigating officers received reports of historic domestic violence offences allegedly committed by the man in 2023 and 2024. These offences had not previously been reported to police.

About 10.15am today (Wednesday 10 December 2025), police arrested the 28-year-old man at a correctional centre in Silverwater.

He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV) (two counts), reckless wounding (DV) and common assault (DV).

He was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 11 December 2025).

The officer was formally dismissed from the NSW Police Force on Friday 5 December 2025.
