Officer injured Labrador

A police officer has been injured after attempting to stop a vehicle involved in a petrol drive off at Labrador overnight.

Around 11.15pm a silver Toyota Aurion with stolen Queensland registration plates 387 ZDO attempted to do a petrol drive off at a Frank Street service station. The attendant exited the store and ran towards the vehicle to prevent it driving off.

Police on patrol were travelling north along Frank Street when they observed the commotion causing them to pull into the service station.

A 28-year-old male Constable exited the police vehicle and was walking past the police car's bonnet when the offending vehicle accelerated pinning him between the police car and the Toyota Aurion.

The driver of the Toyota Aurion then reversed the vehicle and exited the service station driving west along Robert Street.

This vehicle was then involved in a collision with a parked car on Corrine Street where the driver has fled the car.

The officer was transported to hospital for treatment to a suspected fracture to his shoulder, a knee injury and soft tissue damage.

Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch are continuing their investigations into the incident.
