A man and a woman will appear in court today charged after a police officer was punched in the face while responding to a stabbing in Albury yesterday.
About 6.45pm (Wednesday 17 February 2021), emergency services were called to Corella Street, North Albury, after reports a male had been injured during a fight.
A 17-year-old boy was found with a stab wound to the head. He was treated at the scene before being taken to Albury Base Hospital, where he received a number of sutures, before being released.
Officers from Murray River Police District attended and established a crime scene.
As police were making inquiries, it's alleged a 42-year-old woman has hindered officers and punched a female probationary constable in the face.
The woman and a 25-year-old man were arrested and taken to Albury Police Station.
The man was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, affray and use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence.
The woman was charged with two counts of assault officer in execution of duty and resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty.
They were both refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court today (Thursday 18 February 2021).
