Officer Stabbed, Man In Custody At Wagga Wagga

A man is in custody after a police officer was stabbed and punched at a home in Wagga Wagga this afternoon.

The female officer was allegedly attacked in Cutler Avenue, Kooringal, shortly before 2pm today (Friday 16 May 2025).

When the constable tried to stop a man riding a bike without a helmet, she was allegedly punched multiple times in the head before being stabbed in the arm and abdomen with what is believed to be a small screwdriver.

She has been treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in a stable condition. She also being checked for suspected fractures to her fingers and a head injury.

A 31-year-old man was immediately arrested and has been taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station.

The female constable, who is in her mid-20s, is attached to the Southern Region Enforcement Squad based at Wagga Wagga.
