Officers assaulted; teen charged at Gunnedah

A teen will face court today charged with multiple property and assault offences in the state's north east.

Following ongoing investigations into an alleged break and enter at a home Apex Road, Gunnedah and property offences earlier this month, officers attached to Oxley Police District attended a home in Gunnedah about 1.15pm yesterday (Thursday 17 March 2022), and spoke with a teenager.

Police will allege when they attempted to arrest the 16-year-old boy, he kicked and headbutted a Sergeant and spat at a Senior Constable.

Officers arrested the boy a short time later and he was taken to Gunnedah Police Station.

The teenager was charged with break and enter house steal value, receive motor vehicle part-theft, receive/dispose stolen property, dishonestly obtain property by deception, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, resist officer in execution of duty, two counts of assault officer in execution of duty and destroy or damage property.

The teen was refused bail to appear at a children's court today (Friday 18 March 2022).
