Officer's Death Prompts Critical Incident in Bateau Bay

A critical incident investigation is underway after NSW Police officer died at Bateau Bay this morning.

About 6am (Monday 6 April 2026), a 56-year-old Sergeant was found deceased at a home in Bateau Bay.

Initial inquiries indicate the man's death is not suspicious and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

A critical incident investigation is underway which will be reviewed by the Professional Standards Command and oversighted by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC).
