Officers injured, Brisbane Correctional Centre

Three custodial correctional officers were injured during in incident at Brisbane Correctional Centre this evening.

One officer received an injury to his head when he was struck by a cell door kicked open by a prisoner.

Two responding officers were injured while restraining the two prisoners who were in the cell.

The officer with the injury from the door and one officer who was injured during the use of force were assessed by medical staff before being transferred to hospital by QAS.

The two prisoners were restrained and moved to the Detention Unit on a safety order.

The matter will be referred to the CSIU for consideration of criminal charges.

Officer safety is an absolute priority for Queensland Corrective Services, and we are committed to making our prisons as safe as possible for our officers.

There will be comprehensive review of the circumstances of the incident and management will continue to provide support to the injured staff.
