Official opening of Caboolture Police Station and Moreton District Headquarters

Commissioner Katarina Carroll was joined by Police Minister Mark Ryan for the official opening of the Caboolture Police Station and Moreton District Headquarters this morning.

The new police station will house the Moreton north Criminal Investigation Branch, Moreton north Child Protection Investigation Unit and the District Detective Inspector.

The new headquarters will now house officers from the Moreton District Intelligence Unit, the district operations coordinator as well as the professional practice manger, brief manager, disaster executive officer, tactician, support services inspector and district office staff.

Policing in Caboolture has come a long way since its establishment in 1871 with records showing the station was staffed by one senior constable and one constable.

Recently, continued growth in the area required a larger policing presence in the community.

The new modern facility can comfortably accommodate 200 staff members within the station and 19 staff within the district headquarters.

Commissioner Carroll said the opening of this new station was not only a demonstration of the QPS commitment to the Caboolture and Moreton community, but also the State of Queensland and to all the tourists who frequent the area.

"With the continual growth of the Caboolture and Moreton area, it became evident that there was a need to upgrade the existing station," Commissioner Carroll said.

"This new station and headquarters provides our police officers with the resources and equipment needed to deliver efficient policing in the community."

Minister Ryan said the opening of the new station demonstrated the continued commitment of the Queensland Government and the Queensland Police Service to keeping policing facilities at the highest standard.

"I know that police in the Caboolture and Moreton District area take pride in the new facilities and will continue to deliver a quality service to their community," Minister Ryan said.

"I would like to thank all of those involved in this project and especially the officers in this district who work tirelessly to keep their community safe."
