OMCG member charged during day of action under Strike Force Hawk

Police have charged an alleged Lone Wolf OMCG member during a day of coordinated action under Strike Force Hawk.

Strike Force Hawk is a highly-visible operation designed to disrupt the activities of Organised Criminal Networks (OCN) and Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMCG) with a principle aim to prevent and disrupt related firearms violence and offences.

Just after 11am yesterday (Thursday 7 July 2022), officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command executed a search warrant at an address on Peninsular Drive, Breakfast Point.

During the search, police seized a Nunchaku, shotgun, shotgun carriages, along with steroids and illicit drugs.

The man was arrested and taken to Burwood Police Station where he was charged with nine offences, including:

- Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit

- Use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order

- Possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit/authority

- Acquire etc ammunition subject to prohibition order

- Two counts of possess prohibited drug

- Three counts of possess/attempt to, anabolic or androgenic steroidal agent

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 2 August 2022.

During the operation, 54 police were deployed from nine Police Area Commands in the South West Metropolitan Region, State Crime Command's Raptor Squad, and Traffic and Highway Patrol.

Of note, an additional 46 people and 28 vehicles were searched, 14 bail checks were completed and six Future Court Attendance Notice (FCANs) were issued for offences including drug possession, disqualified driving, traffic infringements and defect notices.

Operational activity under Strike Force Hawk is ongoing.
