One Charged After Break And Enter And Pursuit At Tarago

A man will face court after an alleged break and enter and a pursuit in the state's south yesterday.

Just after 8.15am yesterday (Wednesday 24 June 2026), emergency services were called to a licensed premises on Walker Street, Tarago, following reports of a break and enter.

Officers attached to The Hume Police District were told two unknown men arrived in a white hatchback and wrapped straps around an ATM.

They allegedly attached the straps to their vehicle attempted to remove the ATM from the premises without success, before they drove away from the scene.

About 9.40am the same day, police were called to a home on Braidwood Road, Tirrannaville, following reports of a second break and enter.

When police arrived, officers located the white hatchback leaving the scene and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued along the southbound of Braidwood Road however, it was terminated due to safety concern.

A short time later, police located the vehicle had rolled on Foxs Elbow Road, Warri, where the two occupants – men aged 42 and 38 – were arrested.

They were both treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Canberra Hospital for further treatment under police guard.

On Thursday 25 June 2026, the 38-year-old man was released from the hospital and extradited to NSW.

He was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station where he was charged with two counts of specially aggravated enter dwelling with intention.

He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 3 tomorrow (Friday 26 June 2026).
