One man arrested over Pennington hotel robbery, SA

One man has been arrested and police are looking for two other suspects and a vehicle following a robbery at a licensed premises at Pennington overnight, according to SA Police.

About 3.15am on Monday 29 August, two men armed with firearms smashed their way into the Grand Junction Tavern, Grand Junction Road, Pennington, shortly after closing time. They threatened staff and made off with two cash boxes. The suspects left in a dark Holden sedan.

Fortunately, staff were not physically injured during the hold-up.

About 4.15am, police stopped a similar vehicle in Stirling Street, Thebarton. Two men got out of the car and ran off, while the female driver drove away. Police searched the area and quickly located one of the suspects. He was arrested without further incident.

The 24-year-old Munno Para man is currently being interviewed by Serious Crime Task Force officers. He is expected to face serious charges and will appear in court later today.

Police are still looking for a man and a woman and a black 2000 Holden Berlina sedan, registration WLU927. The vehicle has low profile wheels with black five-spoke mags. Anyone who spots the vehicle is asked not to approach it, as the occupants may be armed, but to contact police immediately on 131 444 or Triple Zero.
