One man found and another still wanted following Warrnambool armed robbery

Police are no longer searching for a 20-year-old man in relation to an armed robbery in Warrnambool last week after his arrest on Friday following a collision east of Camperdown., Victoria Police say

Investigators made an appeal for information last week, and sought to locate the 20-year-old and another man Keiarhn Carter, following an armed robbery in Warrnambool on Thursday 25 August.

It is understood the 20-year-old was driving an allegedly stolen car on the Princes Highway, about 5km east of Camperdown, when he collided with a b-double petrol tanker just after 3pm on Friday 2 September.

The tanker ran off the road and was bogged however the stolen car overturned and landed in a paddock.

The driver of the car, whose identity was established as the person of interest to police, was airlifted to hospital.

A loaded sawn-off shotgun, stolen property and implements for house breaking and armed robbery were located at the scene of the crash.

The driver is currently under police guard in hospital.

A 15-year-old Camperdown boy was also in the car; he was taken to a local hospital and then released into police custody.

He has been interviewed in relation to the collision and other criminal matters and remanded in custody.

The stolen car, a Subaru Forrester, is believed to have been stolen during an aggravated burglary in Sandhurst about two weeks ago.

Police are still seeking to speak with 30-year-old Keiarhn Carter in relation to the armed robbery and a number of pursuits throughout the Hamilton, Heywood and Warrnambool areas.

A 29-year-old Warrnambool woman has been charged with being an accessory to armed robbery and a 26-year-old Warrnambool man has also been charged in relation to the alleged armed robbery with armed robbery, theft and aggravated burglary.

The pair have been remanded in custody and will face Warrnambool Magistrates’ Court on 29 November.
