The McGowan Government has reminded small business and charities impacted during the five-day lockdown in February this year that there is one more month to apply for a $500 electricity credit.
The $500 credit was made available for small businesses and charities that aren't Synergy or Horizon customers but incurred electricity costs during the five-day lockdown in February this year.
This includes organisations on embedded network arrangements, sub-metered properties and businesses billed by alternate energy retailers. Other similar arrangements where electricity costs are recouped by a third party will also be considered.
Applications opened on Monday June 14 and will close on September 30, 2021. Applications and supporting documents can be lodged through https://www.wa.gov.au/energycredit
Applications submitted online will receive an email notification once the application is processed and payments will be made into a nominated bank account.
The $500 credit is a McGowan Government initiative to offset the costs of electricity in response to the five-day mandatory lockdown between January 31 and February 5, 2021.
This initiative offers a $500 electricity credit applied in February this year to approximately 85,000 eligible small businesses who are not Synergy and Horizon Power customers.
As stated by Finance Minister Tony Buti:
"Supporting Western Australian households during this unprecedented time is an important part of our jobs and recovery plan.
"Mandatory lockdowns are necessary to keep Western Australia safe from COVID-19.
"We recognise the impact that lockdowns have on small business and charities and relief measures, like the electricity credits, provide financial assistance to offset some of the costs.
"I want to thank small businesses and charities for their ongoing role in supporting Western Australia - they will play a key role in our economic recovery."
