One Nation has made clear it is putting perks ahead of the interests of South Australians, by refusing to support important legislation unless they receive more taxpayer funded staff, despite already being given additional staff.
One Nation has more than 22 full time staff positions. This includes seven additional staff for parliamentary research.
This additional allocation beyond One Nation's ordinary staffing entitlement is almost double the number provided to the next largest minor party, to scrutinise broadly the same legislative program.
One Nation is threatening to fail to do its job unless this additional staff allocation is increased to 10 — which would give them two and a half times the additional staff of other minor parties.
One Nation should be focusing on South Australians, not on more perks for themselves.
As put by Kyam Maher
It is extraordinary that One Nation, a party that has campaigned on smaller government, is demanding even more taxpayer funded staff, despite already receiving 7 additional staff above the standard entitlement for MPs.
One Nation went to the election saying they would fight for South Australians, but instead they're more focused on fighting for more benefits for themselves.
Once again, we see One Nation saying one thing and doing entirely the opposite.
It's the political equivalent of going on a hunger strike because each member of your team doesn't get their own bespoke chef. The truth is, they have more workers in their kitchen than any other minor party.
Members of One Nation in the lower house need to explain if they intend to vote against legislation to make it easier for firefighters with cancer to access compensation.
