Ongoing Changed Traffic Conditions At Paytens Bridge

Motorists are advised of ongoing changed traffic conditions at Paytens Bridge on Paytens Bridge Road, 11 kilometres south-west of Eugowra.

On Tuesday 17 June a strengthening structure called a 'Bailey bridge' will be craned on to the bridge deck, requiring intermittent 15-minute full bridge closures throughout the day.

A timber kerb will then be installed alongside the Bailey bridge, resulting in a reduced bridge deck lane width of three metres.

A reduced speed limit of 10 km/h will remain in place on the bridge at all times.

The remaining bridge strengthening work is expected to take two weeks to complete, weather permitting, and will be followed by around three weeks of load monitoring to assess the effectiveness of the bridge strengthening measures.

Work hours are 7am to 6pm from Monday to Friday, weather and site conditions permitting.

Until the bridge assessment is completed, the existing 23-tonne load limit on Paytens Bridge will remain in place.

Vehicles over 23 tonnes travelling between Eugowra and Lachlan Valley Way will not be able to use Paytens Bridge Road and will need to detour via Casuarina Drive to Gooloogong.

There will also be temporary traffic changes within the work area to ensure a safe work zone, including intermittent stopping, single lane closures and reduced speed limits through the work area during work hours.

Outside of work hours, the speed limit in the work area will return to 100 km/h except on the bridge which will remain 10km/h.

Motorists following the detour are advised to allow 30 minutes of additional travel time. Motorists in vehicles under 23 tonnes using Paytens Bridge Road are advised to allow 10 minutes of additional travel time.
