Officers in eastern region have made a number of arrests as part of Operation Advance.
Operation Advance had a dedicated team working throughout the night targeting high-risk driving and vehicle crime offenders.
A number of arrests and impounds were made including:
• About 10.15pm a motorcycle was observed travelling at high speed along the Monash Freeway. The bike exited at Wheelers Hill and actively attempted to evade police. The bike was dumped in Radleigh Avenue but police were quickly on scene and arrested a 25-year-old man.
• A 2024 Porsche was observed travelling at 175km/h along the Monash about 11.30pm. The car was intercepted on Huntingdale road, Clayton. The driver, a 24-year-old man and provisional licence holder, has had his car impounded and will be summonsed for speed dangerous and other traffic offences.
• A stolen car was spotted in Doveton. Police have kept observations on the car and attempted to intercept the car at the intersection of Princes Highway and South Gippsland Highway. The car took off and headed onto Eastlink where police successfully deployed tyre deflation devices. The car was abandoned in the Eastlink tunnel but police quickly arrested a man in his 30s at the scene who is currently being interviewed by police.
Operation Advance is expected to be run again in the near future.
