Operation High Impact F5 underway with concerning results, South Australia

Operation High Impact F5, got underway yesterday, targeting people committing offences against the Fatal Five which include drink or drug driving, speeding, distraction offences, seatbelts and dangerous road users, with the aim of stopping people being killed on our road through poor choices.

Operation High Impact F5, got underway yesterday, targeting people committing offences against the Fatal Five which include drink or drug driving, speeding, distraction offences, seatbelts and dangerous road users, with the aim of stopping people being killed on our road through poor choices.

In the first 24 hours since the operation was launched by the Police Commissioner, police conducted over 4000 alco tests and over 90 drug tests in the Adelaide metropolitan area and around 2000 alco tests in the regional areas. In total 29 people were exceeding the alcohol limit with the highest reading being a 42-year-old man from Dernancourt, who returned a reading of 0.145. Seven people tested positive to drug driving.

A total of 24 expiation notices were issued, 39 vehicles defected, 14 drivers issued with instant loss of licenses and 1 person reported for driving whilst disqualified.

A 33-year-old man from Bedford Park was also issued a fine for exceeding the speed limit by 45km/h or more when he was detected driving at 105km/h in a 60km/h zone on South Road at Edwardstown. He was issued an instant loss of license for 6 month and had his car impounded for 28 days.

This operation will continue to run until Thursday 5 September, with police conducting the highly intensive enforcement operation across the state.

Police urge all motorists to take responsibility on our roads and remember, committing offences against the Fatal 5 kills.
